I've found this article, and it made me remember an important hint from the 3rd season.

Recap:
- Robb Stark: dead at the Red Wedding
- Joffrey "Baratheon": dead at the Purple Wedding

Who is the next one?

Here's a possible answer.

Meanwhile, I've finished the 1st book, A Game of Thrones, and I'm devouring the 2nd one, A Clash of Kings. The 4th season of the TV-show is currently following the second half of the 3rd book, A Storm of Swords.

Enjoy!

  1. Greetings, Raum,
I have enjoyed reading your posts about 'Game of Thrones'.
As of yet, I have not seen the show, or read any of the books.
My 2 wonderful sons (who know me well) tell me its just too bloody and ruthless for me.
I think they are a bit protective of me!

Here is my question for you today.
Which is better, in your opinion, the books, or the TV show?
This is a debate I have often with my 2 adult sons.
Sometimes, when you love a book, and they make a movie, it changes forever how
you view the story. Sometimes it ruins it.
Its like watching a car accident...you cant get it out of your head.

If they do a fantastic job of the movie (such as Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings Trilogy) it does change how you read the books, but in a really Good way.
Now when I read JRR Tolkeins novels, I "see" Elijah Wood as Frodo, and Martin Freeman as Bilbo!
Of course, Ian McKellan has always been my Gandolf, and Kate Blanchard has become my Galadriel.
This is why I am a bit hesitant to see a movie version of a beloved novel.

OK, so back to my original question.
    Should I buy the books?
Forget the books, and watch the TV show?
    What would you suggest?

    Sending you love today,
    and a hug,

    Holly

    1. Hi Holly!

I'm enjoying the books of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" Saga, which inspired the TV-show "Game of Thrones". The TV-show is very well done. Since the books (and the whole Saga) are very long, I suggest to watch a few episodes of the TV-show to understand if it's your cup of tea.

So far, I've read the 1st novel, and the 1st season of the TV show follows it closely. I'm currently reading the 2nd novel (the second season of the TV-show is based on it).

      Hugs!
